This is a truly tempting dessert to bake – not just only for Valentine’s day. This recipe works anytime when you want to spoil someone close to you or when you want to cure your chocolate urge. It’s probably one of the most delicious tarts I have ever made and I give you no other choice than to bake it for yourself!

Ingredients:

For the dough

1 cup flour

¼ cup coco powder, dutch processed

¼ cup ground walnut

1 ts vanilla sugar

1 tsp rum

Pinch of salt

100 gr cold butter

1 egg

For the filling

½ cup heavy cream

Method:

Start with the dough. The most important thing is to make sure that all ingredients are cold. Sift flour, coco powder, vanilla sugar and salt into a bowl. Quickly work in the cold butter, add egg and rum as well. Form a dough, wrap it into plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for at least an hour.

When the hour passed knead the dough between two parchment papers, this way we can easily place the dough into the 9 inch diameter, pre-greased form. Place a piece of parchment paper on top of your dough and fill it with 2lbs of beans. This is necessary to keep the dough from rising. Bake it for 15 minutes on 375F. After 15 minutes baking take off the beans and the parchment paper from your dough but let it bake for another 10 minutes on the same temperature.

For the filling pour whipped cream into a pot, add butter and on low heat start heating it up. Add the chocolate and let it melt. Cool it down and finally add the lightly beaten egg to the mixture.

Pour the liquid off of the sour cherry. Mix the walnut with the 2 tbs powdered sugar and sprinkle it over the sour cherry. Add half of the sour cherry mix on top of the pre-baked crust, pour chocolate filling and put it back to the oven for another 30 minutes or until it’s done on 350F.

The other half of the sour cherry will be made as a sauce. Just add the cinnamon and the leftover powdered sugar, cook it until it’s bubbling. About 5-8 minutes.

When everything is done, slice the cake and add sour cherry sauce on top of the chocolate tart.

Happy Valentine to all of you!
